Here's a month by month guide to your Papillon puppy, so that you'll know what to expect as he/she grows.
1 Month - Milk teeth begin coming in, weaning can begin.
11/2 Months - Nipping, chewing, and play fighting begin. Approximately 70% of adult brain mass is present.
2 Months - (or as soon as you bring your puppy home) - Housbreaking begins. Begin intergration with household (Children, other pets, etc). Talk to your vet about vaccinations and spaying/neutering.
3 Months - Puppy begins chasing thrown objects, other dogs and animals, and his/her own tail. Puppy recognizes own name. Approximately 90% of adult brain mass is present.
4 Months - Puppy responds to "Come".
5 Months - Begin puppy training classes after vaccinations are complete. Puppy is approaching adult height and weight.
6 Months - Puppy responds to "Sit", "Fetch", "Down", "Stay", "Heel". Sexual maturity is reached.
7 Months - Puppy loses milk teeth and permanent teeth come in. Talk to your vet about dental health.
8 Months - Puppy can now be expected to be able to hold elimination for about 8 hours.
9 Months - Puppy training classes (if taken) are complete.
18 Months - Puppy is approaching social/behavioral maturity and will begin to exhibit adult behavior.
